"The Lost Art of Ah Pook Is Here" (2009)
The Lost Art of Ah Pook Is Here, an exhibition catalogue of the artwork by Malcolm Mc Neill created for the unpublished collaborative work with William S. Burroughs entitled Ah Pook Is Here [which was rather published without the artwork]. This catalogue was published by Track 16 Gallery (Los Angeles, California, US) in 2009 for the exhibition that was shown 4 April through 2 May, 2009.
This includes interviews with Mc Neill and Burroughs, and some examples of work done in collaboration with Burroughs for Cyclops, National Screw, and High Times.
At the time of this exhibition, plans were in progress to release a version combining the Mc Neill and Burroughs work into a common edition of Ah Pook Is Here, to be published by Fantagraphics Books (Seattle, Washington, US) in 2011. This fell out of favor with the estate, and instead Fantagraphics produced two books in 2012: Observed While Falling: Bill Burroughs, Ah Pook and Me – a memoir by Mc Neill – and The Lost Art of Ah Pook Is Here: Images from the Graphic Novel – a catalogue of the artwork, without the Burroughs text.
This copy of this scarce catalogue was acquired directly from Malcolm Mc Neill and was inscribed by him to me in 2020.
Not in Schottlaender.
