Observed While Falling: Bill Burroughs, Ah Pook, and Me by artist/illustrator Malcolm Mc Neill, as published in hardcover by Fantagraphics Books (Seattle, Washington, US) in 2012. Edited by Gary Groth and (associate editor) Michael Catron. Designed by Tony Ong. Published by Gary Groth, Kim Thompson, and associate publisher Eric Reynolds.
This is a memoir of Malcolm Mc Neill and his collaborations with William S. Burroughs, including their work on Cyclops, in National Screw, and most interestingly the failed/ostructed attempt to publish Ah Pook Is Here as a form of graphic novel. This is a companion book to The Lost Art of Ah Pook Is Here, and both document the history of trying to bring this collaborative work together – something that Fantagraphics intended to publish in 2011, and instead was pushed to release the art and memoir divorced from Burroughs text.
This book includes also black and white reproductions of art from a range of the Burroughs/Mc Neill collaborations.
This copy of this interesting memoir is inscribed by the author, and was received directly from the author.
