Norma Jeane – Body Proxy, a monograph and exhibition catalogue for the art of Norma Jeane, as published in a padded pictorial hardcover without dust jacket as issued by JRP/Ringier Kunstverlag AG (Zürich, Switzerland) in 2004. The exhibition was at Halmhaus Zürich between 1 May and 20 June 2004, at SI Swiss Institute – Contemporary Art in New York City between January and February 2004, and at Kunstverein Freiburg between April and May 2005. The editors of this catalogue are Giovanni Carmine and Norma Jeane. Concept by Giovanni Carmine, Norma Jeane, and Cornel Windlin. Coordination by Manuela Altorfer, Lionel Bovier, and Simon Maurer. Design by Cornel Windlin. This book has texts in German and English.
William S. Burroughs contributes “Just to Pass the Time Away” from Port of Saints, pp. 113-121 (German) and 122-127 (English). This appears next to Norma Jeane’s “DIOMONA / Tribute to Federico Fellini”, a fold-out image of pharmaceuticals.
Burroughs is also mentioned multiple times in Alessandra Gelasso’s concluding essay, “Art as a Virus”.
Norma Jeane's t-shirt, designed for the City Gallery in Monfalcone for the 50th Venice Biennale in 2003, is shown on page 171. This is a tribute to William S. Burroughs.
