"Luxe" Edition of "The Seven Deadly Sins" (1992)
New York City, Saint Louis, MO, and Amsterdam: Lococo-Mulder (book, monograph), 1991.
book: 12.375" x 8.875" x 0.5", ~40 pages, hardcover, leather-bound with affixed plywood panel shot with buckshot, no ISBN noted.
box: 12.625" x 9.375" x 1", unlabeled.
The Seven Deadly Sins by William S. Burroughs, as presented in a "Luxe" edition, leather-bound with an affixed painted and shot plywood panel, as released in an edition of 150 signed and numbered copies by Lococo-Mulder (New York City, et al.) in 1991, signed in 1992. This represents a larger portfolio of text and screen-printed artworks by Burroughs, released in a limited number of sets in wooden boxes. Additionally, 2,000 cloth-covered copies were released (not signed and numbered) – one point of confusion is that these cloth copies are also noted as "Luxe" in the colophon; only the leather-bound copies are the "Luxe" 150 copies [buyer beware!]. A photograph of William S. Burroughs by Robert Mapplethorpe leads the book. Photographs of the art were taken by D. James Dee. Book design and production by Edward M. Vernon. The plywood on the cover was shot by William S. Burroughs.
This copy is #56 of 150 copies, and is still in its original cardboard box. This copy was formerly owned by collector Darin Scope (England), acquired directly from him.
