Literary Outlaw: The Life and Times of William S. Burroughs by Ted Morgan (born Sanche de Gramont, "Ted Morgan" being an anagram of "de Gramont"), as published in hardcover by Henry Holt and Company (New York City) in 1988. Jacket design by Robert Anthony with a photograph of William S. Burroughs by Bill Belli. Back cover photo of Burroughs at the Los Alamos Boys Ranch School. Book design by Victoria Hartman.

This is the primary biography of William S. Burroughs, completed with Burroughs' participation. This covers his years up to 1988.

This copy belonged to Charles and Pam Plymell and was a gift from Ted Morgan to them. This uninscribed book includes the letter sent with the book, signed by Ted Morgan; three photographs of Ted and Charles Plymell at an exhibition of Claude Pélieu's collages; and Charles Plymell's Rolodex card listing Ted Morgan's former address.  This copy was acquired by way of Jeffrey Weinberg, Water Row Books (Massachusetts).

In the archive, I additionally have Beat Hotel resident Roger Knoebber's copy, inscribed to him by both William S. Burroughs and Beat Hotel resident Nick Smart.  I also have a reading copy that I have had for decades.
