The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse / Die vier apokalyptischen Reiter by William S. Burroughs, as published in a tête-bêche bilingual (English & German) softcover edition by Expanded Media Editions (Bonn, Germany) in 1993 [shown is the third printing]. Photograph of Burroughs by Udo Breger, and additional photos by Y. Fujii and Christof Kohlhöfer. Cover art, layout, and illustrations by Christof Kohlhöfer. Transcription by Terry Wilson.
This is a text that was "delivered 1980 at the occasion of the Institute of Ecotechnics' 1980 Planet Earth Conference in Aix-en-Provence." This text, which has a subsequent discussion, was previously published in Man, Earth and the Challenges (1981).
An Expanded Media Editions advertisement for Burroughs' works Electronic Revolution and Naked Scientology/Ali's Smile is in the center of the book.
This copy, which is a 3rd printing [although not stated – all printings (1984, 1988, 1993, and 1996) confusingly suggest "First German Edition"], was purchased by me in 1993 from Tattered Cover Bookstore (Denver, Colorado, US), and is among the first books by Burroughs that I collected. Not a valuable copy, but a sentimental one.
