Man, Earth and the Challenges, the book of the 1980 Planet Earth Conference held at the Institute of Ecotechnics at Les Marronniers, Aix-en-Provence, France, between 12 and 15 December 1980. This scarce book was published by Synergetic Press (Santa Fe, New Mexico, US) in a softcover edition in 1981. Cover art is "Marriage of Heaven and Hell" by Gerald Wilde, who was represented by October Gallery, which later represented William S. Burroughs.
Synergetic Press is the imprint of Synergia Ranch, run by John P. Allen and Ed Bass, founder and director of the Institute, respectively, and also founders of the Biosphere 2 project outside of Tucson, AZ.
This contains William S. Burroughs' "The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse", pp. 153-168, which was later published by Expanded Media Editions in book form. This includes an excerpt from a discussion between William S. Burroughs, Brion Gysin, Dr. Robin T. Adams, Edward Bass, and Dr. James D. Hays.
