London, England: John Calder (book, primary, inscribed, association), 1964.
8.25" x 5.75" x 1", 252 pages, hardcover with dust-jacket.
The Naked Lunch by William S. Burroughs, as published by Calder & Boyars (London, England) in a hardcover edition in 1964. This includes the introductory essay "Deposition: Testimony Concerning a Sickness", and includes, as an appendix, the "Letter from a Master Addict to Dangerous Drugs", as published in The British Journal of Addiction, volume 53, number 2, January 1957.
This specific copy, which is a later impression (6th, 1970) of the Calder & Boyars edition, belonged to Hamri of The Master Musicians of Joujouka. It is inscribed to Hamri on the title page: "For Hamri amigo / de muchos anos / all the best / William Burroughs." This was acquired from writer Will Lasky (Brooklyn, New York) from his late father's collection.
