The compendium of Charles Plymell's writings Hand on the Doorknob: A Charles Plymell Reader contains an essay entitled "Eating and Drinking with the Beats", pp. 15-34, that describes William S. Burroughs at many points. Visiting Burroughs in London is described at pages 19-20, along with a poem entitled "8 Duke St., London, 1968." A dinner with William S. Burroughs, James Grauerholz, and John Giorno at the Plymell home in Cherry Valley in 1975 is described at pages 22-23. The event known as "Rencontre Internationale de la Contre-Culture" in Montreal – attended by the Plymells, Anne Waldman, Allen Ginsberg, Mary Beach, Claude Pélieu, and others – is discussed between pages 23-24. A visit for a reading in Lawrence, KS., and a visit to Burroughs' home is described in pages 27-28. A November 1996 visit with Allen Ginsberg and William S. Burroughs in San Francisco is described at pages 28-29. A Spring, 1997 visit to Lawrence, KS. to visit Patricia Marvin and William S. Burroughs is described on pages 30-32.
