Giorno Poetry Systems AIDS Treatment Project, Hüsker Du's Challenge Poster (1987)

New York City: Giorno Poetry Systems (flyer, poster), 1987.
13.5 x 8.5", single-sided, single sheet.

A 13.5” x 8.5” single-sided flyer/poster by Giorno Poetry Systems (New York City) for its AIDS Treatment Project, with the headline “Hüsker Du challenges Giorno Poetry Systems Artists to give royalties to help people who have AIDS.” Created in 1987.

This contains a quote from William S. Burroughs: “Why is AIDS research important? I feel that biologic mutation is the only hope for homosap. Biologic alteration is essential for Space conditions. We are here to go. If transplanted organs are rejected by the immune system, the rejection of a biologic alteration would be that much more overwhelming. Such an alteration would of course occur in the sexual area, and that is blocked by AIDS. Research into the immune system may be our only hope. What could be more important to homosap than such research?”

This copy was acquired from Jeffrey Weinberg of Water Row Books (Massachusetts, US).
