A Wayne Propst Prank (n.d., 2026)

Lawrence, Kansas, US: Wayne Propst (baseball), unknown, received 2026.
~2.75" diameter, signed with forged signature.

A signed baseball handed to me by Lawrence, Kansas, artist, local character, and friend of William S. Burroughs, Wayne Propst, during a visit to the Burroughs Estate office in 2026. This is a prank of Wayne's, and the signature is not correct. Like some of Gregory Corso's Burroughs forgeries, some examples are easily misattributed and should be taken with caution.

Nevertheless, it's a charming bit of Wayne's character and humor, and it is treasured regardless.

Note that Burroughs did sign some unusual objects. There are three variant t-shirt designs which he shot and signed at Fred Aldrich's farm, an asian mask that a recording artist I know owns, and a few other odds and ends. To the best of my knowledge, however, no baseballs were signed.
