Cities of the Red Night by William S. Burroughs as published in hardcover by John Calder (London) in 1981. This was originally subtitled "A Boy's Book", but that was removed before publication. Dust jacket painting by Pieter Brueghel ("Triumph of the Dead"). Rear flap photo of Burroughs by Jerry Bauer. Book design by Joy Chu. The only major differences between this and the US edition are the spine logo and the rear flap, which has "Other Books by William S. Burroughs" rather than a biography.

In the archive, I have the typescript copy used for the editing of this edition, received by Savoy Books publisher Michael Butterworth at Burroughs' New York City "Bunker" flat, and passed on to Calder after Savoy was raided on unrelated obscenity charges.
