Lettered copy of the Agentzia "Cut Up or Shut Up" (1972)

Paris, France: Agentzia (book, signed, lettered, 1st), 1972.
8" x 4.75" x 0.25",  72 pages of text, 80 pages overall. "Agentzia #34".

Cut Up or Shut Up by Jan Herman, Carl Weissner, and Jürgen Ploog, with William S. Burroughs' contribution "Tickertape" running across the tops of all pages, as published by Agentzia (Paris, France) in 1972. Dust jacket design by Wolf Vostell.

This was released originally – as noted at the colophon page – in an edition of 100 numbered copies signed by Jan Herman, Jürgen Ploog, and Carl Weissner. Shoaf notes the total edition at 500, which suggests that there were 400 unsigned and unnumbered copies as well.

This specific copy is a lettered copy, which is not described on the colophon page. This is letter 'D', signed by Herman, Ploog, and Weissner, but additionally by William S. Burroughs and Wolf Vostell.

I do not currently know how many lettered copies were issued, and whether these were Hors Commerce copies or Contributor Copies (and if the latter, who owned this copy). The dust-jacket is not present with this copy and it is also unknown if this originally had one of the dust jackets. The book itself is in fine condition.

This was acquired from Pacific Book Auctions (PBA Galleries, Berkeley, California).
