J. M. (Michael) White's "The Word Horde" (c.1990)

n.p.: J. M. (Michael) White (copy, annotated typescript), c.1990.
11" x 8.5", 38 pages, single-sided, corner-stapled.

A copy of the corrected typescript for J. M. (Michael) White's The Word Horde, an apparently unpublished work that traverses the books and themes of William S. Burroughs' writing. This is thirty-six pages of text with two pages of Burroughs bibliography. A good, if partial, attempt to digest the breadth of Burroughs' work into a short number of pages. Assumed draft date of 1990, given the dates of books mentioned (through 1989).

Michael White is also the author of Naropa Journals: William Burroughs, Allen Ginsberg and the Beat Revolution as well as editor of the Hanuman Press book of interviews with Kerouac entitled Safe in Heaven Dead, among other works. He studied at Naropa Institute with Burroughs and others in the early 1980s.

This copy was acquired from Jeffrey Weinberg at Water Row Books (Boston, Massachusetts), who received this directly from Michael White.
