Jack-the-Ripper Penguin Junky (1977)

New York City: Penguin Books (book, primary, signed, drawing), 1977.
7.125" x 4.25" x 0.25", 158 pages, softcover, ISBN 0-14-004351-9.

Junky by William S. Burroughs, the "first complete and unexpurgated edition, originally published as Junkie under the pen name William Lee". Published by Penguin Books (New York City and London) in 1977 [this a second printing copy]. Introduction by Allen Ginsberg, prologue by William S. Burroughs. At the end of a novel is a glossary of "hip"/"jive" talk.

This unexpurgated includes the previously-removed "The Valley" sections, among others.

This specific copy is signed by William S. Burroughs and additionally includes a drawing by Burroughs. This is very uncommon. According to the previous owner, on included paperwork:

"Burroughs did a reading tour with Psychic TV at The Final Academy, London in October 1982... and I went along with this book in my pocket. After the gig, I was fortunate to meet the great man and got him to sign my book. Being a thoroughly pretentious art student type, I asked him to draw a picture as well, and he drew the little angry face. I have no idea what it signifies; he handed it back to me without a word and turned away to sign other people's stuff."

This image is quite similar to drawings by Burroughs of "Jack the Ripper" [see example 1, and example 2].
