Copies of Legal Documents Regarding the Shooting of Joan Vollmer Burroughs (n.d., original documents dated 1951)

Mexico City, Mexico: La Penitenciaria del D. F., et al. (copied documents), n.d. [orig. 1951]
13.5" x 8.5", 17 full pages and a partial notebook page, single-sided.

Seventeen full legal sheets and a partial notebook page of materials related to the shooting of William S. Burroughs’ wife Joan Vollmer and his brief incarceration. This includes information on his cell number and prisoner number, the charges against him, the police report, testimony of John Healy and others, and judgment against Burroughs. These pages are in Spanish.

This set of copies came originally from Jorge García-Robles, who wrote The Stray Bullet: William S. Burroughs in Mexico and were given to composer, artist, former gallerist, and publisher CM von Hausswolff, who published Robles’ book into Swedish, and did some audio projects on the topic of Vollmer’s shooting. This was then acquired from CM von Hausswolff.
