Bootleg of the Olympia Press Naked Lunch (n.d.)

N.P.: publisher not stated (book, bootleg), N.D.
6.625" x 4.5" x 0.375", 228 pages, softcover.

Rare bootleg of The Naked Lunch, copied from the 1st Olympia Press printing.

There are tells on this cover that it is from the same origin as a copy formerly owned by Brion Gysin that was in Miles' collection (with different colored covers).  In all of three copies that I have seen, the top border design is broken in the same spot, and the top end of the 'C' in the title is missing.

Acquired from Jeffrey Long at Long Brothers Fine and Rare Books (Seattle, WA.) in 2024. This was formerly in the collection of a Seattle-based collector, previously purchased from Wessel & Lieberman (Seattle). Its history prior to that is unknown.

Possibly similar to the bootleg format mentioned in Maynard and Miles, but not confidently so. Both Jed Birmingham and Maynard and Miles suggest that this may be a "Formosa" bootleg, originating in Taiwan, but this seems speculative.
