Letter from Giorno Poetry Systems, AIDS Treatment Project (c1988)

New York City: Giorno Poetry Systems (fundraising letter, quote), c1988.
13.5" x 8.5", single sheet, recto only.

A letter pleading for support for the AIDS Treatment Project, with quotes from Keith Haring, Allen Ginsberg, Philip Glass, Diamanda Galas, and William S. Burroughs.

From Burroughs:

“Why is AIDS research important? I feel that biologic mutation is the only hope for homosap. Biologic alteration is essential for Space conditions. We are here to go. If transplanted organs are rejected by the immune system, the rejection of a biologic alteration would be that much more overwhelming. Such an alteration would of course occur in the sexual area, and that is blocked by AIDS. Research into the immune system may be our only hope. What could be more important to homosap than such research?”

In an envelope addressed to Jeffrey Weinberg of Water Row Books (MA.), acquired from the same.
