The International Writers' Conference Transcript, Edinburgh 1962

Edinburgh, Scotland: International Writers' Conference (complete transcript, mimeographed, ~145p, single punched with banker's tag), August 1962. 13" x 8"

A beautiful copy of one of the rare and complete transcripts (sole printing, fewer than 100 copies printed.) of the 1962 International Writers' Conference in Edinburgh. Burroughs made statements at the panel on "Censorship" (Thursday August 23rd) and "The Future of the Novel" (Friday August 24th), at the invitation of publisher John Calder, and encouraged by Alexander Trocchi. Burroughs came to the conference under-recognized, and left "a luminary". An important event in Burroughs' literary life.

According to Eric Shoaf: "[This is described] in the Atticus Books Catalog #8 (Section II, No. 161) as 'one of perhaps six copies produced' which seems an improbably low estimate. Maynard & Miles note 'number of copies produced unknown.'"

Acquired from William Cowan, Bookseller (Argyll, Scotland).

Maynard & Miles F6.
