International Times 5.5: The Invisible Generation

London, England: The International Times (poster, silver ink on cream card, signed), 1966. 57 x 77 cm.

This item, unlike most of the output of The International Times, is a poster, designed to be cut out and assembled into "the Invisible generator", a “cut-out word machine poster – a new concept in cut-out manipulatable posters”.

This poster was designed by Michael English and carries William S. Burroughs' text. The initial printing, of which this is an example, is in silver ink and printed in an edition of 200 copies.   This initial printing proved difficult to read, so a 2nd printing was done in gold ink -- 1600 copies.

Not only is this copy one of the few un-cut survivors in silver ink, but is additionally signed by Burroughs following his printed name.

This poster was previously in the collection of Theo Green (Inkblot/Aftermath), and before that Ron Davis. It very likely came through Richard Aaron (Am Here Books) at some point in its history.
