An eccentric tour of some of the more famous residents of the Chelsea Hotel through Joe Ambroses diary entries and notes, with interspersed interviews. Lots of mentions of Burroughs and Gysin as well as full interviews by Spencer Kansa with Paul Bowles, William S. Burroughs, Herbert Huncke, and Allen Ginsberg.

In conversation with Frank Rynne, a collaborator with Joe Ambrose on other projects, it is likely that Joe relied heavily on second-hand information for this book, presenting himself as a longer-term resident of the hotel than he was in actuality. Nevertheless, an interesting read with some good material.
